LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
Tif Harrison acknowledges the many Indigenous nations and its people for being the original stewards of the land where she lives and works.
Tif recognizes and is grateful for the Original Peoples who laid the foundation for the City of Chicago:
Hoocąk (Winnebago/Ho’Chunk), Jiwere (Otoe), Nutachi (Missouria), and Baxoje (Iowas)
Kiash Matchitiwuk (Menominee)
Meshkwahkîha (Meskwaki)
Asâkîwaki (Sauk)
Myaamiaki (Miami), Waayaahtanwaki (Wea), and Peeyankihšiaki (Piankashaw)
Kiikaapoi (Kickapoo)
Inoka (Illini Confederacy)
Anishinaabeg (Ojibwe), Odawak (Odawa), and Bodéwadmik (Potawatomi)
We are all living on Native Land. It is important that we pay respect and gratitude to the many Indigenous peoples that reside in Chicago and across Illinois, as well as their ancestors. Without their work, and that of Black farmers, sustainable food production and practices would not exist.
